We as teachers also have the opportunity to visit schools in other European countries. This is a valuable chance for us to connect with other teachers and learn about their methods, their system as well as any new ideas.

our goals
At our school we have a very diverse student body both in terms of cultural and social background but also learning requirements and abilities. As we are an inclusive school, there are a few students that have special needs and we are always looking for model schools from which to adapt methods of teaching aswell as the organization and ideas regarding resources. Furthermore, we are continually trying to integrate digitalization in our teaching but also in the general school management. By means of providing jobshadowing opportunities for our own colleagues but also welcoming teachers from other countries to do jobshadowing atour school, we are trying to not only get insight into a different school system but actually learn about, evaluate and hopefully adapt new ideas to improve our school.
June 2023 – We welcome teachers from Spain and Finland
Just before our summer break we had a visit from one teacher from a Spanish school for adults as well as two teachers from our Finish partner school in Helsinki. Their objective was to analyse our methods of language teaching, especially in the subject of English, and learn more about our concept for students with special needs. We organized several interviews with colleagues that are experts in those two fields, interviews with students with special needs and several opportunities for observier lessons.
The teachers had planned a versatile and interesting program for us. It was nice that there were lots of different activities during the week. We found the meetings and discussions about special education, study counselling and language teaching especially useful and interesting and it was nice that the teachers had organized those meetings beforehand. We also had a chance to observe the lessons that we wanted. Everyone was welcoming and very kind at the school.
We would like to cooperate in the future and welcome your teachers to visit our school in Helsinki. It would be nice to have a project with the students.
– Feedback from our Finish colleagues
The meeting with the Finnish colleagues offered an interesting opportunity to exchange experiences on teaching pupils with special needs. It was especially interesting to learn that at the Finnish school they have teachers who work as „career choaches“ that focus on planning the way through school and into work life together with the pupils and do not teach any subjects besides that.
